Precision measurements of the ground-state hyperfine splitting of Rb-85 using an atomic fountain clock

摘要The ground state hyperfine splitting of Rb-85 was measured precisely using a rubidium-85 atomic fountain clock. About 5 x 10(5) atoms were detected at the temperature of 4 mu K, and a Ramsey fringe was obtained with FWHM of 0.95 Hz. We present a measurement of the Rb-85 ground state hyperfine splitting with a 5 x 10(-14) uncertainty. The measured Rb-85 ground-state hyperfine splitting was v = 3.035 732 444 821 8(2) GHz. This measurement is more precise than previously reported values by 4 orders of magnitude, and differs from the previously reported value by 5.8218 Hz.
